Ceres I. Artico, Ph.D., LPC, LMFT
Dr. Artico has over 24 years of experience in the field and is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselor.
She is certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and has advance training in LifeForce Yoga for Depression and Anxiety, EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples), clinical supervision, and Sandtray Therapy. Dr. Artico believes in integrating research based approaches to therapy with a personable, warm, and collaborative stance.
EFT for Couples is a widely researched and successful approach to help couples in distress (re)establish a safe and loving relationship. EMDR has been successfully used in the treatment of Post Traumatic Distress Disorder and Complex Trauma for the past 30+ years.
Dr. Artico's areas of expertise include the treatment of trauma, depression, anxiety, and relational difficulties. She enjoys working with couples contemplating marriage, and while respectful of all religious affiliations, she honors a secular approach to pre-marital counseling.
In addition to serving as director of Gainesville Family Counseling and providing services in the Haymarket Gainesville are, Dr. Artico also keeps office hours in Vienna, Virginia. Dr. Artico is the author of the book Latino Families Broken by Immigration. She received her doctoral degree in Counseling from George Mason University, where she also served as an adjunct professor.
Dr. Artico is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
